The Story of SWD Stork Werkspoor Engines

In the industrial heartlands of the Netherlands, a name emerged that would become synonymous with marine and power generation reliability Stork Werkspoor Diesel, or SWD.

These engines were born from a legacy of Dutch engineering excellence, crafted to endure the harshest maritime conditions and the most demanding industrial environments.

The SWD story is one of evolution and resilience. From the early R150 models to the robust DRO210, F240, SW280, TM410, and TM620, each engine type carried forward a tradition of precision, power, and durability.

As the decades passed, SWD engines became known for their modular design and ease of maintenance. Their parts were engineered to exacting standards, often manufactured in Europe and overhauled to meet original specifications. Whether it was a piston, valve spindle, or fuel injection component, every piece was a testament to the craftsmanship that defined SWD.

In 2015, the legacy of SWD was given new life when Wärtsilä established QuantiParts, a dedicated subsidiary to support classic engines like SWD.
