Twin Disc Gear Box Overhauls

Background
We were sent in two Twin Disc MG-5075 A gearboxes from a Volvo TAMD75 EDC from Boatyard on behalf of a vessel owner which had seized and filled with seawater after the stern of the vessel had become submerged.
The gear boxes were partially stripped by the boatyard before contacting Bartech.
Solution
We completed the overhaul of the gearboxes to bring them back to new specification.
Outcome
The gearboxes arrived in our workshop on a Wednesday and we followed our normal overhaul process, including dismantle, clean, inspect, report and rebuild. The overhaul included replacement of all bearings and full inspection of all gears.
On completion, the gearboxes were fitted and commissioned by our service engineers on Saturday morning.
