Dorman 6QTCA Breakdown Repair

Background

Bartech received a call on a Friday afternoon from an NHS hospital whose Dorman 6QTCA backup generator would not start.

The lack of backup power left the hospital vulnerable to any potential problems with the main power supply, so our immediate action was requested.

Solution

We responded to the call, sending our engineer to the site for initial survey, fault diagnosis and potential repair.

On arrival at the hospital, our engineer initially checked the electrical controller which showed correct readings. It was then found that the emergency fuel cut-off valve had been activated, starving the engine of fuel.

Outcome

The fuel cut off valve was adjusted and reset and the engine run on load to the approval of the on-site engineer.

With the Dorman 6QTCA generator back online, the hospital having the power back-up cover it needed within 2 hours.
