Often, the turbocharger maintenance routine given with the engine is to “inspect” or “overhaul” at set intervals, but this won’t always be optimum for performance, or your budget.
The guidance is based around the other parts of the engine and not necessarily what’s best for the turbo and we all know a poorly maintained turbo will add more cost to you with inefficient engine performance and more intrusive maintenance.
