On one level, overhauling engines and their components is straightforward.
Not easy, but straightforward.
The process involves inspecting the equipment, dismantling it into individual components, and carefully examining each part. Each element is then evaluated, and either repaired, serviced, or replaced as needed.
But sometimes, a spanner is thrown into the works (thankfully not literally!).
During the recent overhaul of some turbochargers, we discovered the covers were cracked and corroded – they couldn’t be brought back to life and needed to be replaced.
There was a problem, though: With long lead times for replacements – It wasn’t possible to get new ones in time to meet the customers’ requirements.
Rather than letting the operator down, we did what we’ve done so many times over the years: we used our significant technical expertise and experience to tackle the issue head-on, and in-house.
Our senior machinist Gary has the skill to make this type of turbocharger cover right here at Colchester HQ, so, he manufactured new covers from scratch, perfect for the turbochargers.
We avoided extra costs and lead time thanks to Gary’s skills.
It’s that in-house skill and expertise that has made Bartech such an indispensable part of so many engineering teams over the years, and if you’d like a partner who thinks creatively to solve problems, look no further.
