One of our company values is continuous improvement and we’ve recently taken on a new member of the team to improve on one specific area that I think is relevant for any operator.
Two weeks ago, John started with us on a STEP placement to review and develop our engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Having been trading for 32 years, we already have plenty of experience on how we look after critical engines, so why do we feel the need to revisit and document these processes?
Well, with John’s work we have 3 main aims with our new SOPs:
- Improve quality and efficiency with standard working processes
- Better traceability, accountability and handovers
- Improved training and induction periods for new engineers
To achieve this, John – who is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering – is working with our engineering team to pool together their experience alongside best practices and OEM recommendations.
Have you got SOPs in place to cover your key operations? If you need any help developing this for the maintenance of your engines, get in touch, we’ve got just the man for the job!!
