Setting injector trim codes to improve emissions

Last week we attended a vessel in Kent to upload injector trim files for their Caterpillar C18 engine after we had replaced the injectors.

And it got me thinking about how many operators are missing out on this.

We ALL know how important it is to do our best to keep our environmental impact to a minimum, and when it comes to running critical diesel engines, we need to take advantage of everything possible to reduce emissions.

As Caterpillar engineers with the correct software and tools, amongst other benefits, we can set the injector trim codes via the Caterpillar Electronic Technician software application.

These codes are unique to each injector based on their serial numbers, which ensures they’ll run optimally, and the engine will produce fewer emissions (compared to the same engine with new injectors that have not been coded.)
