Following our post last week on governors, (here if you missed it) we received a request from an oil & gas operator seeking urgent assistance for an issue with one of their Woodward PSG Governors.
After talking through the issue, and understanding the urgency involved, we arranged for our engineer Daveed to attend.
Daveed was finishing another emergency service call on a different platform, and as soon as he was back to dry land, he got straight on to the next helicopter to the platform to support this operator’s critical equipment without delay.
Meanwhile, the replacement governor was sourced from our Aberdeen workshop, and shipped to the platform, ready for his arrival.
Once on the platform, the original governor’s faults were re-confirmed and the new governor was installed & commissioned in its place.
After the governor replacement, a three-hour load test was completed successfully with the engine running steady at the rated speed.
The perfect, fast outcome the operator needed.
